Similar to dragonshards found in Eberron, Levia Dragonshards form as a result of the crystallization of magic during the reconstruction process of Portals. Most of the time they form in solid rock and on the underside of islands, but this is not always the case - especially in the case of a settled location or dungeon being pulled through a portal, they may form in inopportune locations, blocking entryways, waterflow or even trapping living beings inside as though they had been petrified.

Levia dragonshards all have the natural property of repelling the ground. As a general rule, one shard can support up to ten times it's own weight. In addition, some Levia shards have properties related to the magic of the plane they were formed from. These effects have a range equal to 10 times the size of the relevant shard, and only if the shard has a size larger than 25 feet across in any dimension.

  • Elemental: Creatures in proximate range gain resistance (on an even initiative roll) or vulnerability (on an odd initiative roll, unless they already have resistance or immunity) to the relevant damage types.
  • Fey: Proximity to a large shard causes disadvantage on saves against being charmed and similar effects. Creatures immune to being charmed for a reason other than lack of intelligence lose their immunity while in proximate range.
  • Shadowfell: In proximate range, these dragonshards have the following effects:
    • They drain 1d4 of hit points every 10 minutes from creatures who are not undead or constructs.
    • At up to 1000 times the normal proximate range, the area is magically darkened.
      • Darkvision only provides sight up to 30ft in this darkness, and nonmagical light sources, including the light and dancing lights cantrips, will never emit light to a radius greater than 5 feet.
      • All creatures in this area of effect are resistant to radiant damage.
      • This effect cannot be dispelled.
  • Lunar: In proximate range:
    • Creatures with an intelligence greater than 5, except some constructs and undead, can communicate telepathically regardless of language barriers, and are vulnerable to psychic damage unless they already possess a resistance or immunity.
    • Every hour a creature spends in proximate range, it must pass a DC 15 Wisdom save to avoid falling asleep, unless it is a lycanthrope, fey, construct, undead, or otherwise does not require sleep.
    • Lycanthropes in proximate range automatically transform and stay transformed until they leave proximate range. One typically needs to persuade or bait lycanthropes to leave proximate range, as the effect is similar to a drug, and may cause aggressive behavior in evil-aligned lycanthropy. The DC of a relevant check should be increased relative to the size of the Levia Dragonshard.
